Responding to MLA A. Pongshi Phom, who termed GST the state’s economic backbone, Rio noted GST revenue rose 104% in June 2025 after strong April–May growth. Phom highlighted tax gaps and urged expansion to sectors like rentals, sand, and transport, alongside legal reforms and timely DDO returns. Rio assured focus on preventing leakages, stressing timely compliance is vital to strengthening Nagaland’s economic foundation.
