Limison D Sangma Poised to Take Office as Meghalaya Deputy Speaker

Raksamgre MLA Limison D Sangma is set to become the Deputy Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, with the election scheduled for September 12. Representing the National People’s Party (NPP), Sangma is the sole candidate after submitting his nomination, which was formally supported by Cabinet Ministers Marcuise N Marak and AT Mondal. Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma stated that the election will proceed as planned, with the official declaration contingent on any withdrawal before the deadline. The position became vacant after senior NPP leader Timothy D Shira resigned, paving the way for Limison D Sangma to assume the Assembly’s second-highest presiding office.
