Of the 443 dams, 427 are suitable for fish farming across 126 villages, supporting irrigation, fisheries, livestock, and rain-fed crops. Capacity-building programs and distribution of fingerlings, fish feed, lime, and nets have been conducted with KfW’s support. While fish production rose to 83,000 MT in 2023, the state still faces a shortfall of 31,000 MT, met via imports from other states and Bangladesh.
