Manipur’s Gloria Gangte Appointed as India’s New Ambassador to Norway

A 2000-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, Gangte currently serves as India’s High Commissioner to Malta. Hailing from Churachandpur district, she cleared the UPSC civil services exam in 2000 and has held diplomatic positions across multiple countries over her two-decade career. Her appointment is celebrated as a milestone for Manipur, with former Chief Minister praising her distinguished service. Gangte assumes the role as India seeks to expand engagement with Nordic countries, focusing on clean energy, technology collaboration, and Arctic research.
