Sikkim to Reopen Doka-La and Cho-La Passes for Domestic Tourists from October 1

The Sikkim government will open the high-altitude Doka-La and Cho-La passes to domestic tourists from October 1, 2025, to promote adventure tourism and support sustainable livelihoods. Only Indian citizens with valid voter IDs can visit via registered tour operators, paying Rs. 1,120 per person, which includes wildlife sanctuary entry and Tsomgo Pokhari contributions. Mandatory one-night homestays at Silk Route points are required. Only vehicles above 1,400 cc are allowed, with a daily limit of 25 tourist vehicles and 25 bikers per pass. Security will be managed by Sikkim Police, the Army, and the Tourism Department, with strict cleanliness and monitoring protocols.
