Odisha Government Orders CBI Investigation into Alleged Police SI Recruitment Scam

The Odisha government has handed over the investigation of alleged irregularities in the police sub-inspector (SI) recruitment to the CBI, citing the scam’s spread to states like Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal and suspected involvement of an inter-state criminal syndicate. The Crime Branch had already arrested 123 people, including 114 aspirants. The scam surfaced after a tip-off about a possible paper leak, with candidates allegedly paying up to Rs 25 lakh for coaching. Investigators suspect the syndicate operated under Sankar Prusty of Panchsoft Technologies. The Odisha Police Recruitment Board has postponed the exam for 933 SI posts until the probe concludes.
