Meghalaya Scientists Study Sohra's Record Rainfall to Improve 5G/6G Networks

Scientists from NIT Meghalaya and NESAC are studying Sohra's extreme rainfall to develop rain-resilient 5G/6G networks, using the region as a natural lab to understand signal disruption. In a parallel achievement, the same institute has designed Meghalaya's first integrated chip, an FSM chip for precision irrigation, presented to PM Modi. Both projects highlight how regional research addresses national tech goals. A second chip to study environmental impacts on plant growth is also in development, aiming to boost agricultural technology. These initiatives demonstrate turning local challenges into nationally relevant technological solutions.
