| Updated On: 25-Oct-2025 @ 3:52 pmUS startup Pivotal unveiled a one-seat recreational eVTOL, a 254-pound (115 kg) small flying car qualified as an ultralight under FAA regulations. It does not need a pilot's license, has eight electric propellers for vertical flight and level flight up to 63 mph, and is operated with one joystick using automated takeoff and landing. Purchasers receive a two-week training course. Limitations are a 20-minute flight duration, limited range, few safety features, and prohibitions over population centers. Future plans for Pivotal are to evolve this ultralight platform into larger, FAA-approved aircraft with increased payload and range.
