EC Launches Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls in 12 States and UTs

The Election Commission announced a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 states and Union Territories, requiring 51 crore registered voters to submit enumeration forms by December 4 to remain on the draft roll. The revision, starting November 4, will involve 5.33 lakh booth-level officers conducting door-to-door verification, with the draft roll published on December 9 and the final list on February 7, 2026. The SIR aims to ensure accurate voter data, addressing issues like migration, duplicate entries, and ineligible voters. Assam is excluded due to the ongoing NRC process. The EC said the move follows persistent complaints about electoral roll inaccuracies.
