The accused include Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sharma, Sandipan Garg, Nandeswar Bora, and Paresh Baishya, appearing via video conferencing as October 28 was Chhath Puja, a public holiday. They were previously remanded on October 15 and lodged in Baksa jail, amid violent protests that led to nine arrests and injuries to police and media. Two others, Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta, were sent to Haflong prison the next day.
