President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday became the first Indian President to take a sortie in a Rafale fighter jet at the Air Force Station in Ambala, Haryana. Sharing her experience on X, she called it an unforgettable moment that deepened her pride in India’s defence capabilities. Before takeoff at 11:27 a.m., she posed with a helmet and waved from inside the jet. Rafales were used in Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam terror attack. Earlier, in April 2023, Murmu flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI at Tezpur, following former Presidents A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil’s similar sorties.
