American-Norwegian company 1X Technologies has unveiled NEO, a $20,000 humanoid home assistant robot designed to perform household tasks like cooking, chatting, and carrying groceries. Weighing 30 kg, NEO can lift up to 68 kg and operates quietly at 22 dB. Equipped with WiFi, Bluetooth, 5G, and a large language model, it can recognize objects, interact conversationally, and remember past contexts. NEO’s customizable design and soft body make it safe for homes. Pre-orders are open, with deliveries starting in 2026. Though early models are partly tele-operated, experts believe humanoid robots like NEO could revolutionize daily life in coming years.
