Ten of 20 chapters have been closed, with four or five largely agreed upon, and further convergence is expected in upcoming rounds. Both sides aim to conclude the FTA by end of 2025, addressing mutual sensitivities in steel, automobiles, carbon tax (CBAM), and other EU regulations. With rising US tariffs affecting Indian exports, India seeks to secure diverse markets. EU technical teams will visit India next week to advance discussions and finalize a balanced agreement.
