The Assam government has launched a cashless medical treatment facility under the Ayushman Asom Mukhya Mantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana (AA-MMLSAY) for state employees, pensioners, and their dependents. Rolled out on October 29 by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, the scheme allows beneficiaries to receive treatment at empanelled hospitals across Assam and major corporate hospitals nationwide. Previously reimbursement-based, the program now offers cashless treatment while retaining the old system for a smooth transition. Over 2.23 lakh employees and 6,172 pensioners are registered, with Rs 65 crore reimbursed since 2023. The scheme is self-funded via employee contributions, covering an estimated 7–8 lakh beneficiaries in coming years.
