NITI Aayog VC Suman Bery Says Cabinet Note on National Manufacturing Mission Is Underway

NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson Suman Bery stated that the next phase of reforms must focus on supply chain development, standards, and skill ecosystems to help small enterprises scale and integrate into global production networks. He noted that while India has strengthened infrastructure, regulation, and digital/logistical backbones over the past decade, manufacturing remains underperforming. The Cabinet note for the National Manufacturing Mission (NMM), aimed at boosting manufacturing’s GDP share to 25%, is underway. The mission will emphasize clusters, domestic value chains, clean-tech industries, upskilling, MSMEs, and technology adoption, building on Make in India initiatives.
