Naga Students’ Federation Reiterates ILP as Key to Safeguarding Indigenous Rights

The Naga Students’ Federation’s Inner Line Regulation Commission (ILRC) held a consultative meeting on November 3 at the Naga Council Dimapur Hall to strengthen the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system and protect indigenous Naga rights. Leaders stressed enforcing the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873, and upholding Article 371(A). Concerns included illegal migration, weak enforcement, and low awareness. Key recommendations urged empowering local councils, regulating ILP holders, promoting indigenous economic control, and improving the ILP online portal. The meeting reaffirmed commitment to preserving Naga land, culture, and identity through stronger coordination among state and civil bodies.
