Sitharaman praises Assam’s ‘progressive vision’ during inauguration of Guwahati riverfront and terminal

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Gateway of Guwahati Terminal and the Brahmaputra Riverfront – Sati Radhika Shaanti Udyan on November 7, highlighting Assam’s “progressive vision.” She said the projects reconnect Guwahati with the Brahmaputra, boost river-based transport, and create tourism and economic opportunities. Sitharaman praised Assam’s integration of technology with cultural preservation and noted the environmental benefits of water transport. Commending Assam’s efficient use of central investment funds, she lauded cooperative federalism under PM Modi and CM Sarma. Chief Minister Sarma said the terminal strengthens Assam’s waterway connectivity and supports the vision of a “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
