ChatGPT Could Become Social: OpenAI Trials Group Chats and Direct Messages in Latest Update

OpenAI aims to transform ChatGPT into an “everything app” following its Sora 2 video model and AI video app launch. ChatGPT will soon support group chats and DMs via invite links, allowing participants to see previous messages. Group chats have separate custom instructions, and personal ChatGPT memory isn’t used. Features include reactions, message replies, typing indicators, file uploads, image creation, and web search. Additionally, the new ‘shared projects’ mode lets teams upload documents for ChatGPT to use in generating context-aware responses over time. Projects are securely stored, and collaborators can join in “chat” or “edit” mode for ongoing discussions.
