Colombian President Gustavo Petro has suspended intelligence sharing with U.S. security agencies after President Donald Trump’s administration launched missile strikes on boats in the Caribbean, killing at least 75 people. Petro condemned the attacks as potential war crimes and urged an investigation into Trump, criticizing U.S. drug policy for targeting poor coca farmers instead of major traffickers. The U.K. reportedly took similar action over legal concerns. Tensions between Petro and Trump have deepened after U.S. sanctions on Petro and his family, the revocation of his visa, and growing speculation of expanded U.S. military operations in the Caribbean targeting Venezuela.
