Gauhati High Court Demands Detailed SIT Report on Zubeen Garg Case by December 17

Social activists Abhijeet Sharma and Palash Ranjan Baruah, petitioners in a PIL (PIL/46/2025) before the Gauhati High Court, appeared before a Division Bench of Justice Michael Zothankhuma and Justice Mital Thakuria. The petition names several Union ministries, the Assam Government, the High Commissioner of India in Singapore, and others. The Court directed the government to submit a detailed SIT progress report by December 17, 2025, marking a significant step in the Zubeen Garg death probe. It also noted the low turnout before the Justice Saikia Inquiry Commission. All related PILs will now be heard together, led by Senior Advocate K. N. Choudhary.
