Guwahati to Host New Visa Facilitation Hub Serving More Than 60 Nations

Residents of Assam and the North East will soon be able to submit visa biometrics in Guwahati, thanks to VFS Global’s agreement to set up a dedicated visa facilitation centre. Announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the centre will eliminate the need to travel to Delhi or Mumbai for biometric submission. It will offer visa processing services for over 60 countries, though the exact list and opening date are yet to be revealed. The move is expected to greatly reduce travel time and expenses for people across the region, addressing long-standing difficulties in accessing distant consular services.
