Qualcomm on Wednesday launched its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile chip to cater to growing demand for premium mid-range smartphones, aiming to challenge Apple’s dominance in emerging markets like India. While the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers flagship devices, the new chip targets consumers seeking premium features at accessible prices. OnePlus, Motorola, iQOO, and Vivo will launch smartphones with the chipset. It features Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU, offering 36% improved performance and 76% better web responsiveness, an updated Adreno GPU with 11% graphics boost, and a Hexagon NPU delivering 46% performance improvement.
