5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Assam; No Casualties

On Monday morning, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck central Assam, with its epicenter in Morigaon district at a depth of 50 km, according to the National Centre for Seismology. The quake occurred at 4:17 am, at latitude 26.37 N and longitude 92.29 E. No casualties or property damage have been reported. The tremor was widely felt across central Assam and neighboring districts including Kamrup, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Golaghat, Jorhat, Cachar, and others, as well as parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Bhutan, China, and Bangladesh. Residents evacuated homes in fear.
